GST Annual Return Filing Services in India
As per the GST regime, every registered person is required to file Annual Returns in Form GSTR-9 on or before 31 December of the year succeeding the financial year. This return provides details of all the supplies, invoices and other relevant documents that were made by the entity during a financial year.
The Annual return forms are available on the website of the Government of India for download. The form is based on the data and information that is extracted from earlier returns (GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B) filed by the taxpayers.
It also lays down rules for filing of the Annual Return for a particular financial year. The form also contains a section which explains the purpose of the return.
Taxpayers can choose the option to upload the GSTR-9 electronically, which will reduce manual work involved in preparing and submitting this return. However, if they do not want to upload the document on the portal of the Government of India, they can opt for the paper version as well.
During the 47th meeting of the GST Council, it was decided to extend the late fee waiver on form GSTR-4 for FY 2021-22 by another four weeks till July 28. The council also extended the due date for filing form GST CMP-08 for Q1 of FY 2022-23 from July 18 to July 31.
Apart from filing the annual return, it is important for all taxpayers to comply with other legal compliances under the GST and Income Tax Acts. These compliances must be done on time to avoid penalty and interest.
