GST registration is an essential step for small businesses in India. To register, you need to visit the GST portal and select 'Register a new entity/ business'. Then enter the details of your business under the 'Business Details' tab and submit. You need to provide your official name as mentioned on your PAN card, state and district where the business is located. After submitting all the information, an OTP will be sent to your registered email and mobile number. This OTP will be used for validation of the details you entered. A temporary reference number will also be provided on the screen which will be used for further steps of the registration process.
Once you have successfully validated the OTP and verified your business details, click on 'Save and Continue'. Then fill the other details of your business like promoter and partner details, authorized signatory, rent agreement/ electricity bill etc. Also, upload the supporting documents for each of them like PAN card, address proof, photograph and ID proof. Once all the information is filled, submit the application and digitally sign it. Once the form is approved, you will be provided with an Application Reference Number (ARN). You can now use your TRN to check the status of your registration on the GST portal.
